Keep the concepts separate
SEO improves the discoverability and usability of pages in search. AEO describes making answers clear and accessible. GEO is used for work intended to improve representation in generative systems. These overlap, but a readiness improvement is not proof of a ranking or citation.
Start with crawlable, useful information
Publish factual descriptions of your organization and services, stable URLs, descriptive headings and helpful answers. Make important content available in the rendered document. A structured-data file cannot compensate for unsupported claims or thin content.
Use schema that reflects the page
Organization, Service, BreadcrumbList and Article markup should describe visible facts. Do not invent ratings, clients or a local business address. Structured data is an interpretation aid, not a guarantee of a featured snippet or an AI mention.
Measure observed answers carefully
If you test AI answers, record the provider, date, prompt, market, response and cited URLs. Label the sample size and limitations. A single favorable answer is not a universal visibility result, and different tools can produce different responses.
Treat llms.txt as an experiment
A readable llms.txt can summarize public resources, but it does not prove that a model retrieves or cites the file. Keep it accurate, exclude private data and record any observed usage separately from the fact that the file exists.
Use a transparent report
Separate completed technical fixes, editorial changes, search data and sampled AI observations. Mark unavailable checks as not tested. This gives decision makers a clearer basis for investment than an unsupported all-in-one visibility score.
