Build the brief around a customer task
Choose the primary action: an enquiry, booking or purchase. Identify which provinces and territories you can genuinely serve. Use accurate shipping, fulfilment and support information rather than implying local offices.
Separate language from location
English and French versions need an equivalent navigation, checkout, legal review and support plan. A Canada flag does not make a website bilingual. Publish translated pages only after a competent reviewer has approved them; then add reciprocal hreflang references.
Budget in an explicit currency
Agree a CAD quotation, third-party costs and the scope of revisions. Sales tax treatment depends on the seller, customer and transaction; confirm the rules with a qualified adviser instead of inferring them from a province selector.
Plan privacy and accessible journeys
Record what each form collects, why it is needed, how long it is retained and who can access it. Review the legal requirements that apply to your organization. Test the actual keyboard, mobile and assistive-technology journeys rather than promising compliance from a template.
Make launch measurable
Check redirects, canonical URLs, form delivery and order attribution in the production environment. Record actual results. A successful page load is not evidence that email delivery or payment settlement works.
